Before you record
- Sheets draws cells on a canvas: emails and numbers in cells are not detected by automatic blur. Use Alt+click or a blur area for sensitive columns.
- Use a copy of the sheet with sample data.
Record your Google Sheets walkthrough
- Open the sheet
and set Chrome zoom to 110–125%.
- Record
typing the formula and the result appearing.
- Deep-zoom
on the formula bar and the result cell.
- Speed up typing
with Smart Edit.
Turn it into a written Google Sheets guide
Menu actions ("Click Insert", "Click Pivot table") become steps; cell clicks appear as "the highlighted area". Rename those in the Guide tab.
Parts of Google Sheets are drawn on a canvas, so Zoomr can't read that text. Guide steps on those areas read "Click the highlighted area", and automatic privacy blur can't detect data there. Use Alt+click (Option+click on a Mac) or an editor blur area for anything private.
Tips for Google Sheets recordings
- Show the formula in a text callout so viewers can copy it.
- One formula or feature per video.
