How to add captions to a screen recording

Most people watch videos muted at first. Captions make your demo understandable without sound and help with accessibility. Zoomr generates them on your computer, so your audio is never uploaded. Captions are a Pro feature.

  1. Record with your microphone on.

Captions are made from your voice track (or from the tab's own sound if you didn't use a microphone).

  2. Open the Text tab → Captions.

  3. Choose the spoken language

and quality: Fast (≈40 MB model) or Accurate (≈80 MB). The model downloads once and is reused.

  4. Press Generate captions.

Speech-to-text runs locally with OpenAI's Whisper model.

  5. Fix any words.

Edit lines in the list; delete lines you don't want.

  6. Style them.

Dark box, Outline or Yellow; bottom or top.

  7. Export.

Captions are burned into the video. Use Download .srt for YouTube or other players.

Timing and edits

Captions appear on the timeline's Captions row; drag a line to retime it. If you cut or speed up parts later, the SRT file follows your edits automatically.
