- Turn it on with the 🎙 Mic switch in the popup, or choose a specific microphone in Settings → Microphone & camera. A level meter shows it's working.
- Your voice is recorded on its own track, with echo cancellation and noise suppression. That's why Smart Edit can find your speech and never cut it, and why you can change its volume later.
- Mute with Alt+Shift+S (Option+Shift+S on a Mac). It records silence, so everything stays in sync. The timer turns grey while muted.
First time: Chrome asks for permission once. If no prompt appears, see Microphone or camera blocked.
